The FSA agency is also housed in the Armsdale Administration
under the direction of County Executive Director, Edward
O. Huston II. The FSA agency provides a wide range of
cost-share programs for the farming community.

Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC)
The Commission patrols the many streams and waterways
that criss-cross the various communities of our County.
The PFBC continues to reach the public with educational
programs. They appear before school classes, civic clubs,

Game Commission (PGC)
The Commission is the organization charged with the
protection of our wildlife resources. Don Smith
is our local Game Land Manager while Larry DeLaney is
our local farm/game coordinator. These officers

of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR)
The Bureau of Forestry has been managing state forest
land for the past century and helping private landowners
for more than four decades. Under the Cooperative Forest
Management Program, a service forester is available
to help landowners understand, manage, and wisely use
the forest resources of Armstrong County. Service
Forester Gary Gilmore can be reached at his Brookville

Department of Transportation (PennDOT)
As a cooperating agency, PennDOT has been involved closely
with the Armstrong Conservation on many highway projects.
Maintenance Manager Lee Goehring and his assistances
Randy Arduini, Keith Duris, William Olinger and Acting
Assistant Manager David Shaffer are on staff at the
Kittanning Field office. PennDOT has a web site
that covers several different aspects of the Department
such as publications, contact numbers, programs and
initiatives, etc.

State Cooperative Extension Service
Penn State
Cooperative Extension has been a vital part of the
community for over ninety years. Throughout the twentieth
century, it has educated, advised, and helped improve
the quality of agricultural and family life in Pennsylvania
and had also been a great asset to the residents of
Armstrong County. The staff is busy planning, implementing,
and evaluating educational programs.The staff continues
to look for innovative ways to improve and expand the
informal educational opportunities for our clientele.

State Association of Township Supervisors (PSATS)
The Armstrong Conservation District assists
various municipalities within Armstrong County through
the Dirt and Gravel Road Program and by providing technical
assistance through a Memorandum of Understanding regarding
erosion and sediment pollution control. PSATS has a
web site that gives a broad base insight to the background
and structure of the townships in the State.
