As a service to the area landowners, the Armstrong Conservation District will conduct its 44th Annual fruit tree and seedling sale. This year, the District will offer some new varieties of fruit trees and seedlings. As in the past, tree guards will again be available.
This year, there are 19 varieties of fruit trees and 10 different seedlings.
Varieties of trees and seedlings are limited and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Orders will be filled in the order they are received. All orders must be received with payment in full by March 17, 2017. Distribution of orders will take place on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Lenape Tech. It is suggested that orders be placed early to insure them being filled.
Price per fruit tree or seedling bundle is $19.00- tax included. (Please note: Sugar Pearls Apricot are $23.00 and American Hazelnut trees are $23.00/bundle)
The fruit trees range from 3-6 feet in height upon delivery, bare rooted, and packed in moist peat moss. Tree guards can be purchased at $2.00 each. These are 20-inch spiral plastic that is used at the base of the young fruit trees to protect them from deer, rabbits, and other small animals.
All seedlings will be sold in bundles of 25. Seedlings are 8-24 inches in size (depending on the variety purchased). These seedlings can be used to build a natural windbreak, wildlife habitat, enhancement, Christmas tree production, or just to use as shade trees.
