February 23, March 21– Manure Management Workshop*

The Armstrong Conservation District is offering free Manure Management planning workshops on February 23rd and March 21st from 9am-2:00pm to help Armstrong County farmers develop a Manure Management Plan (MMP). February 24- Soil Health Workshop**

The Armstrong Conservation District is hosting a free Soil Health Workshop on February 24th from 9:30am-2:30pm at the Armsdale Administration Building, Room B11.  Whether you are new to the term soil health or a seasoned cover cropper, this three part workshop is sure to provide you new information on soil health.  We will lay the groundwork by discussing a primer on soil health.  In part two, we will take a deeper dive into building healthy soil.  In part three, We will take a closer look at an efficient cover cropping strategy that will improve soil health, the benefits of adding cover crops and designing mixes to improve your farming profitability long-term.  The Basics of Manure Management Requirements will be discussed with the option of planning assistance from the Armstrong Conservation District after the workshop. Free soil test kits will be available to farmers who are interested in preparing a Manure Management Plan.  Lunch is included.  To register, call Jessica Schaub at 724-545-3628, or at jjschaub@co.armstrong.pa.us.

March 2- CREP Maintenance Workshop**

The Armstrong Conservation District is hosting a free CREP Maintenance Workshop on March 2nd from 9:30am-2:00pm at the Armsdale Administration Building, Room B11. Topics include: CREP Overview, Problem Weeds, Weed Management, Contract Renewal, and PPE & Pesticide Spills. Pesticide credits available depending on PDA approval. Lunch is provided.
CREP is administered by the Farm Service Agency. In exchange for removing environmentally sensitive land from production and introducing conservation practices, farmers and agricultural landowners are paid an annual rental rate.
